Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:Nick Ryan Wrestle Up
Nicky Ryan's Wrestle Up Series by Nicky Ryan
This video contains many ways to wrestle up to your opponent starting from a seated guard. Nicky does a great job showing you exactly what to do and how to follow up depending on your opponents reactions. This instructional is unique. These techniques can also help for bjj guys who want to become more confident in their wrestling takedowns, because the finishing portion of the takedowns remains the same whether you started from a standing or seated position.

Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:A comprehensive high quality instructional and the pathway to improving your straight armbar
The Straight Armlock Anthology by Lachlan Giles
You can immediately see the time and effort spent by Lachlan Giles to organise and develop this instructional. He has clearly thought about what material should be included, the structure and how to best teach the included material. Techniques are taught for the GI (e.g., grip breaking) and No-GI. This instructional provides a thorough coverage of the straight armbar with the first two volumes teaching you how to complete an armbar against a resisting opponent, including an initial teaching of the armbar from mount, guard and the belly down armbar. In the introduction to the armbar he appropriately assumes that the student is new to the armbar and therefore these initial versions are taught with less detail to make it easier to commit to memory and avoid the student being buried in the detail. The following three volumes are organised around entries from specific positions including the mount, closed guard, side control, the back, some less common entries (i.e., kimura, omaplata and 50/50) and the half butterfly. The final three volumes focus on techniques, including closed guard head arm, mount cutting armbar, shoulder crunch, choi bar and the open guard, and choi bar from a top position. The instructional has a total runtime of 11 hours and 32 minutes. In my opinion Lachlan Giles is an excellent teacher of BJJ. He is easy to understand, clearly explains and demonstrates the techniques. Importantly he teaches not just the technique but also the likely responses from the opponent and how you should deal with these reactions. One inclusion that I appreciate is the addition of some narrated rolling around particular techniques. This provides the opportunity to see the challenges to applying the technique to a resisting training partner who knows what you are attempting to do. There is a big difference between teaching a technique with a passive often smaller uke than compared to exposing the technique to a more dynamic environment. From my perspective as a student this is both fun and instructive at the same time. Most of the instructional has been filmed with a fixed camera. The quality of the video is excellent as is the range and sound, which when the quality of the video is compared to many other instructionals is near perfect. If only all instructionals had the same quality. A neat extra is that the name of each chapter is displayed on the bottom right side of the video, which is useful for navigation. The available previews are consistent with the whole instructional. In summary, this is a high quality and comprehensive instructional teaching the straight armbar. There is good coverage of the choi bar, which is generally not covered in other armbar instructionals.

Leglocks Unlocked Part 2 by Tum Energia
You can tell Tum spends a ton of time thinking about the layout and structure of his material before he films it. That pays off in a very comprehensive instructional that is not only easy to follow but gives information and details that will actually ‘stick’. Very applicable to live training and a great sequel to part 1 of leglocks unlocked!

Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:An easy step from the closed guard to an open guard.
Cross Collar Sleeve Guard by Romulo Barral
Romulo Barral thoroughly teaches the cross collar sleeve guard. It is a great guard to start your open guard (GI) journey, as you can easily return to the closed guard when things don’t go to plan. Additionally, this is a simple, but effective guard, is easy to learn and it doesn’t require above average flexibility or athletic abilities. In my opinion the structure of this instructional is good. Romulo Barral firstly teaches the guard, guard retention for this guard (a 16 minute chapter) and two effective submissions (i.e., triangle and armbar – from the knees and standing) so you can quickly start to see your own progression. Other chapters cover additional armbars, several chokes, omaplatas, collar drags, sweeps, kneebars and gaining the back. Importantly you are also taught when you should choose specific submission techniques. Romulo Barral teaches techniques commencing from the standard leg position for cross collar sleeve guard (i.e., one leg on the opponent’s hip and the other on their biceps), butterfly guard and de la riva guard. This instructional has a total runtime of 2 hours and 9 minutes. Romulo Barral is clearly knowledgeable, easy to understand, presents well and kept me engaged with the content. Demonstrations were clear and is the practice demonstrations were repeated from different angles. Romulo Barral coaches you through the techniques. It is the sort of instructional that can be easily watched several times. The instructional has been filmed with a fixed camera. The quality of the video is good (i.e., lighting and focus), as is the range. Sound is generally good, however there are occasional moments where the microphone, which is clipped to Romilo Barrals’s GI is knocked and for short moments there is some distortion. For me this was not a problem as it was a minor issue, but I am disclosing it for completeness. In my opinion it is good that the instructor and uke are wearing different coloured GIs as it makes it easier to clearly see the instructor’s limbs. The available previews are consistent with the whole instructional. In summary, if you are wanting to start your journey to the open guard (GI) what a great way to start by using the cross collar sleeve guard. The cross collar sleeve guard is not a complex guard and it will work for you, as it has for me, provided you absorb the content of the instructional and importantly practice the techniques.

Very useful! Instead of a random bundle of techniques, Dinu gives you a broad and deep understanding of the full concept behind all type of armlock attacks. Helps to thoroughly understand the different arm lock positions and mechanics, very applicable in live training. Power Ride: A New Philosophy on Pinning by Craig Jones
I lost a F2W event because I didn't prioritize control and pressure. Interestingly, my jiu jitsu game was the opposite of my wrestling game. My jiu jitsu was purely submission attacks with little thought on position. My wrestling was alot of leg riding that kept my opponent flattened out belly down. After that loss, I worked harder to integrate a lot of my controlling wrestling into my jiu jitsu. My ultimate goal was to get guys bellydown with no options. When I got to those positions I could use my tools from wrestling to control and my tools from jiu jitsu to submit. It was working well but I had a tough time stopping guys rolling to their back. This instructional had the missing piece that connected my top wrestling to my jiu jitsu. I recommend this to wrestlers especially. Side note my MMA grappling has gone up as well. Combining wrestling and jiu jitsu has allowed me to get to ground and pound positions that are debilitating for people to escape from. I have wrestled for ten years and done jiujitsu for 3.5 years.
