Professor Lucas Leite is a legend. He won the World Championship in 2005, defeating Lucas Lepris in the brown belt final. The 2005 World Championship also produced other legendary brown belt champions such as Bruno Malfacine, Yukinori Sasa (a Japanese Jiu-Jitsu legend), and Romulo Barral. Lucas Leite demonstrated that his half guard techniques were effective even in heavier weight classes in black belt competition. You should learn his half guard techniques, known as the Coyote half guard. In this video Leite introduces some counters to the most common topside half guard strategies, including back steps, darce attacks, Kimuras.
