Systematically Attacking The Guard by Gordon Ryan
This is one of the most in depth series ever. Gordon Ryan adds tidbits along they way that apply beyond passing. In order to pass well he talks about positional tweaks that you need to implement to beat frames or that a smart partner will attempt to stop your passing. These will have the added benefit of making you better at guard and submissions and pinning, not just passing. You need to take notes. You need to practice to implement. If you do this you will become a problem in the room.

Make Z Guard Great Again by Craig Jones
I have a few other Z-guard instructionals by Craig, so I was a bit worried I was going to be wasting money on this one. I was pleasantly surprised. This is a bit of an evolution from the previous instructionals and does a much better job talking about how to defend the position. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who plays low knee shield.

Travis is a great fighter, but more than that a clever guy. he found a loophole in the bjj preparation (standup game) and not only gives you advises for improve yourself, but also expose the flaws in the mindset of better player than you (generally speaking, wrestler and judo are better in the standup game than any bjj practitioner..)

This content is well laid out. Techniques are specific to either how your opponent is approaching from a stance perspective, or reactions you get from a given technique. I would recommend this instructional to anyone who likes to play a seated guard. It is likely you will learn something!

Ultimate Armlock Escapes by Henry Akins
Learnt a lot from this dvd. Some escapes are obvious or really intuitive (as the one for the nutcracker), others really well known (as the one from the back strangles)… but others are pure gold, as the ones from katagatame. Moreover, you will learn a lot about the strangles by understanding their weak points. The quality of the video is great, Henry Akins a really great teacher.
