Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:Mikey breaks down the art and science of DLR…
The De La Riva System Part 1: The Foundation by Mikey Musumeci
I was inspired to write my first BJJ fanatics video review because I have just finished parts 1-3 of Berimbolo series and just started the DLR series, part 1. As an aside, the berimbolo series was excellent. Mikey systematically, grip by grip, demystifies the berimbolo in a way that made it perfectly understandable and applicable to any game. Rather than just being detail oriented for details sake, he shows you how the details fit into the entire system and make the position work. In contrast, I didn’t know quite what to expect on this DLR series. I’ve been playing DLR for most of my time in Jiu jitsu; in fact, it is my main guard. I thought I understood the position pretty well. What Mikey showed me is that there is a real science behind jiu jitsu, and he brings his full theory and practice to explaining and breaking down DLR and all of the possible actions and reactions from this position. I’ve never experienced jiu jitsu being taught in this way. He takes out the guess work and tells you what exactly to do and when, depending on your opponents reaction, and he explains the “why” of positions and reactions by grounding it in physics and biomechanics. I have a completely new appreciation for the DLR and the mechanics involved. In addition, Mikey’s enthusiasm and humor put personal touches on a product that make it feel unique and quirky and utterly Mikey. The uke, his sister Tammy, an expert herself on these positions, asks poignant and well-timed questions that give even more insight into the position. I hope Tammy stays on as uke for the rest of his instructionals. At this point in my exploration, I can confidently say that Mikey’s instructionals, including this one, are a step above the rest. Like a Danaher or a Ryan, Mikey breaks down the systems and the science behind those systems that can take any average practitioner and turn them into a wizard. As a jiu jitsu practitioner, this is the best money spent by far. Invest in your technical progress and learn the meta-game behind DLR and back takes. It is completely worth it.

Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:Jake Shields is an amazing instructor and this is a must have instructional on the Guillotine Choke.
The American Jiu Jitsu Guillotine System by Jake Shields
I am a purple belt and I have always had a hard time finishing guillotines. In an effort to master this technique I have purchased every guillotine instructional I could find, from BJJ experts that have mastered the technique. So far this Jake Shields instructional is my favorite. I really like his teaching style. The instructional has lots of great angles, an excellent explanation of the technique and the perfect level of detail. What makes this instructional really good is Jakes insight how to transition between other chokes, like the Darce Choke, based upon your opponents reaction. You should definitely add this video to your BJJ library. Big thanks to Jake Shields for sharing his knowledge on this technique.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Terrorize your partners before you even do anything to them.
Scientific Gripping Systems For Jiu Jitsu by Travis Stevens
Gripping is ostensibly the least sexy aspect of grappling, but it precedes everything you'd like to see on a highlight reel. This instructional will help you get and keep the grips you want while denying your partners theirs. I've recently had a higher belt say they're reluctant to grab my collar anymore. It's almost not even a fair fight when you understand gripping better than your opponents.

Survive and Escape by Matt Thornton
I wish I bought this instructional much earlier. I am still learning to be much more proficient in escaping mount and side control using Mr. Thornton's method and I can say I am getting more success. If I ever have my own students I will definitely teach this first to them so they will have more fun in their Jiujitsu journey.

Reverse shrimping vs hip connection was a game changer.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:wink::hugging:Worth every penny!!!
Triangles Enter The System by John Danaher
Danaher's Triangle instructional is my second most favorite instructional after his leg lock series. I learned about 5 triangles divided into two categories based upon your ability to transition between them and your body position. In addition, Danaher explains the joint locks available which include upper body and lower body attacks. The transitions are seamless and the finishing mechanics are clearly explained. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this instructional and look forward to incorporating what I have learned into my training.
Response from BJJ FanaticsNice! :hugging:
