The Headhunter Guillotine Series by Neil Melanson
I might’ve left a review before but this is deserving of a follow up. My percentage of Finishing high elbow guillotines has Skyrocketed after owning this dvd for a few months. I’ve hit a few others like infinity less frequently but the grip details and finishing angle Neil provides has opened up my ability to always threaten a guillotine from lots of positions. The biggest difference is my confidence attacking the chokes and willingness to transition into attacks I could never finish consistently before. Shoulder pin is next, hit a Neil knot yesterday!

Pressure Passing and Top Game by Rafael Lovato
I love this instructional. The same techniques are applied over and over in different situations so that they can be remembered easily. Lots of details but not so many that you overlook the overall picture. Rafael has a very dominant submission-oriented passing style that I like. Often you will get the pass because you threaten with the submission. I love Xande's instructionals and I think Rafael's top game complements Xande's sideguard instructional nicely. Both show very aggressive albeit basic techniques, Rafael from top, Xande from bottom.

The guard Retention Anthology: Around and Under by Lachlan Giles & Ariel Tabak
Engaging instruction and high quality content. I really enjoy how ari and lachlan discuss overarching concepts and follow up with in depth breakdowns of specific scenarios/tech and compliment this with reference to live roll footage. This is the golden standard for guard movements.

What is fascinating about John Danaher’s videos is that he can teach a high level of detail without losing the audience. The videos also include a couple of solo-drills, which is a good way to stay active during corona. I added them to my "Self Mastery: Solo BJJ Training Drills by John Danaher" exercises.

I heard about this DVD. This guy is great. I’ve seen other Kimura DVDs by bigger names that are 4x longer and make you fall asleep. Fabio shows you how to hit the Kimura from everywhere and gives clear details how to finish. Great buy!

Leg Lock Anthology: 50/50 by Lachlan Giles
It's too much content, I'll have to admit. I don't think you can absorb every detail in one night. It's going to take time. But with that said, they're all worth it. With his PhD in the mechanics behind tissue atrophy, the biggest key to his leg locks is his mechanics of where to put the pressure to cause the breaking point. He must've studied leg anatomy in details to know where are its weak points, and put pressure there to cause breakage. If you think about it, leg is stronger than arm, and yet there's still weak points in it. Just like John Danaher, he'll give you scientific or logical reasoning behind his work, which will give you the concepts behind his leg locks, thus up your leg lock game with fundamental knowledge and strategy. Just, take it a bit at a time b/c it's a lot of material, for sure (like an encyclopedia).

The Shoulder Pin Guard System by Neil Melanson
I watched the instructional. The next evening I was able to pull an armbar from the bottom with ease. This has traditionally been difficult for me. I used two other submissions quite effectively that same evening and exhibited a superlative amount of control from bottom guard. I am a 10th Planet guy and find this compliments the Rubber Guard and I'm loving this mixed with Neil's K-Guard. His delivery reminds me of all my favorite military instructor's sick sense of humor. I tip my hat to you Neil.

If you wanna learn the old school way, well Draculino has to be one of your options. I want to make a correction with all respect. The cross choke is named because you need to cross (cruzar) your arms to complete the choke, it wasnt called like that because it wanted to look like a cross (cruz). Cross in this case means the action, not an object.

I just watched the first volume so far after buying this DVD, and I can already tell this is one of the gem instructionals of this website. Mikey's passion to want the viewer to learn is infectious. You can absolutely hear it just in his voice and presentation. I'm 40+ and not flexible, but the berimbolo system is something I've always wanted to learn but been tentative due to a bad neck. At MINIMUM I can already tell that even if you don't attack with berimbolo's yourself, if you go through this instructional (drilling it) you will have a deep understanding of the position itself in order to know what your partner/opponent is trying to do, and you can at least react to it in the right/better ways. Ossss.

Mikey is one of best bjj practitioners of our time and also one of the most technical. The way he breaks down and thinks about techniques is very unique and is found in this dvd. This is his masterpiece. His life’s work. I have been Mikey’s main student since he started even learning and figuring out the berimbolo and the techniques he has taught me (which are found in this dvd And the others to come) have helped me to win many tournaments of my own including black belt worlds. If you want to better your game and your overall understanding of bjj do yourself a major favor and get this dvd. Trust me on this as his partner in the dvd as well... it is worth every penny!
