Upgrade your No-Gi closed guard
The Hip Extension Closed Guard System by Daniel Wanderley
The hip extension closed guard system is covered in Volume 2 (31 minutes) of this instructional. It is a series of No-Gi techniques taught to deal with situations when your opponent is in your closed guard, chest to chest with you and their arms are on your biceps. Fundamentally the techniques commence with you moving your feet one at a time to your opponent’s hips and bridging upwards to disconnect and make space to enter a submission or to stand up. The submissions taught include a triangle, armbars, a kimura, and a wristlock. Volume 1 (74 minutes) Daniel Wanderley teaches over a dozen No-Gi techniques (submissions and sweeps), these techniques are separate to his hip extension guard system (i.e., Volume 1 is applicable for standard No-Gi closed guard). The techniques taught reflect his own approaches and refinements and include submissions and sweeps. A useful feature is the inclusion of a chapter (Vol 1 – 16), which provides a summary including demonstrations with commentary of all the techniques taught in Volume 1. Daniel Wanderley is easy to follow when demonstrating techniques and his discussion is clear and to the point. Additionally, he highlights important details, shares his own insights and discusses the likely response of the opponent. It is obvious that he is very knowledgeable and experienced in the use of the techniques being taught. Within the limitations of a fixed camera there are no notable issues with video quality (e.g., range, focus, or lighting) or sound. In summary, this is an excellent instructional, solid techniques taught well by an experienced competitor, coach and instructor.

Jiu Jitsu For Old Guys Bottom Game: Half Guard and Closed Guard by Bernardo Faria
I am pleased with this purchase overall. If you have used the insiders club you'll recognise atleast half of this instructional and have confidence in the closed guard element. My only downsides for this instructional is that for the price there really isn't enough content, I know it works but it feels a lot like Bernardo has gone on too many tangents about the same transitions, and camera angles aren't great either. But I'd 100% recommend atleast the half guard game, but perhaps the best way to access it would be via a month of the insiders club.

Henry takes what is already a great position and launches it in the stratosphere in terms of effectiveness. His chest crushing techniques employ suffering on a level which my partners can barely comprehend. I've been using his soul stealing techniques since I was a no stripe white belt. My training partners avoid the position like the plague. His instructional keeps on giving as I rediscover new nuances that enhance its sternum cracking, pain inducing torture.

The most undervalued guard in BJJ
Under Pressure: Retention, Recovery and Attacking From Guard by Brian Glick
I think the clamp guard is highly undervalued. Brian's clamp guard video was one of my first BJJFanatics purchases. I will admit that the clamp was a difficult position for me to get into when I first started BJJ as I'm older and lack flexibility. I abandoned the clamp guard for a while and worked on my bottom half guard game circa Danaher's Half Guard "Ageless" videos and discovered that the clamp was more easy to get into from half guard or low knee shield as demonstrated so clearly in Brian's instructional, since I was already on my side. After re-visiting Brian's instructions I have been able to get into the position more often and got several submissions from the clamp guard position this week during live rolling. Often I get a *** look from my partners while in the guard or submitting them! Thanks Brian!
