Logical Content
Breaking The Triangle: Escapes, Counters & Sneaky Submissions by Joshua You
The content flows logically: understanding the mechanics of the triangle → identifying common finishing adjustments → systematically dismantling the position → counterattacking. It’s easy to revisit specific sections without feeling lost.

A detailed breakdown on how to build a passing game around the over under pass for older and potentially less athletic players. Bernardo does an amazing job at explaining the intricacies of the position and how to get there and apply it and variations of it from all different positions. Highly recommended!

A submission that works in competition.
Explained step by step in a clear and detailed way. I didn’t expect there to be so many details to it. By now I can apply the JLOCK confidently on the mats. Recently I even hit the JLOCK in competition. Thank you Jakob

Retention as a System, Not Just Techniques
Guard Retention: BJJ Fundamentals - Go Further Faster by John Danaher
The guard retention and recovery instructional by John Danaher is excellent, especially for those who are just starting to understand guard retention. He does not teach only specific guards, but presents retention as a situational framework, which makes decision-making during rolls much clearer. Guard retention is one of the hardest topics to teach online, and this instructional is very well done. Danaher talks a lot, but it helps a lot with understanding the concepts.
Great stuff
Systematically Attacking the Guard Body Lock Study by Gordon Ryan
Great stuff
Interesting but underwhelming
Octopus Guard 2.0 by Craig Jones
Lots of interesting ideas that are contrary to standard BJJ but it felt underwhelming compared to other CJ instructionals at the same price point. Felt like the amount of realistically useable content was lower than others and closer to 1.0, which I felt was easier to implement and I still use it more frequently than 2.0.
University series
Jiu Jitsu University by Saulo Ribeiro
This is a great video series. It gives you the details you need to survive and thrive in a jiujitsu environment.
Submission expertise
High Percentage Submissions by Bernardo Faria
This was a great series. It gave a wide variety of submissions in a usable format. Bernardo's experience in a gi definitely shows.
Championship Catch Wrestling: Front Headlock & Tactics
Championship Catch Wrestling: Front Headlock & Tactics by Josh Barnett
Great instructional video!
Fun and unique
Octopus Guard 2.0 by Craig Jones
This is not a traditional instructional or octopus guard. It’s unique and fun to watch. My only wish is that it had more of the traditional octopus guard but I guess that’s why it’s “2.0”.

Savior!
Ageless Jiu Jitsu: Winning When You're Older Or Less Athletic - Top Game Gi by John Danaher
As I do BJJ and age, I find myself wanting to get back to basics and move away from flashy social media techniques. John Danaher has the best roadmap for aging grapplers that I have seen thus far. A few years ago, I would have never considered this DVD. Various injuries and an influx of young, explosive grapplers have made me reconsider. Now after going through this series, I feel like I have a good game plan to move forward with BJJ for the next 20+ years. Thanks Mr. Danaher!
Underrated submissions
The Top Game Submission Manual by Ken Gabrielson
I got this one for free but it has some hidden gems in it
The only way I can use jiujitsu
Power Ride: A New Philosophy on Pinning by Craig Jones
I used to wrestle in high-school and this instructional allowed me to funnel my skillset almost 1:1 into jiujitsu. Obviously this isnt the only way you should be grappling, but without this instructional I would not have found the same success applying my wrestling into submissions.
