Fundamentals of Jiu Jitsu 2-Pack Bundle by Bernardo Faria
I use this as a primer on keeping my fundamentals sharp. I use this as a guide for solo drilling and it has given me mental reassurance. Reassurance that at the bare minimum, my fundamentals will be as good as I can make them.

Great drills. I feel like they transfer over into live rolls. Especially compared to mindless shrimping and other typical warmup movements.

Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:Half Guard Encyclopedia
Half Guard Encyclopedia by Leonardo Nogueira
I consider myself to be a half guard player and own quite a lot of half guard instructionals. I love them all... but this is probably my favorite. I couldn't wait to write a review after watching the final video. If someone told me they wanted to get a half guard instructional but could only get one, I would definitely tell them to pick this one. It is a complete instructional that leaves nothing unexplored about the position.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:Jeff Glovers teaching style hits home for me
his step by step teaching method its just a smoother learning experience for me …. From him showing you the proper technique then him showing you some of the common mistakes beginners do and telling you to even try the wrong way to show that it doesn’t work give you even a more understanding of the submission

Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:The best.
Henry is one of the best sources of quality instruction that you can find. There are a lot of ways to finish the first old school BJJ submissions. Henry's way of doing things works and never requires elite athleticism or memorizing complex chains of movements. A+
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Half butterfly guard
Basics To Advanced: The Half Butterfly Guard by Aaron Benzrihem
My Buddy purchased this instructional and we started use it during our training sessions to drill the Butterfly Half. I've always been interested in the position, but never had success with it. Everytime id put my hook in I was getting passed. With the concept Professor Aaron lays out in the beginning of the instructional fixed the common issues I was having in Establishing the guard and creating movement. I am much more confident in the position and using it as a layer of my guard.

Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:Great goal-based approach to guard retention
They Shall Not Pass by Gordon Ryan
Guard retention is a complex subject where situations are dynamic and variations are endless due to choices made by both players. Gordon Ryan manages to give a clear, principle-based system for guard retention covering both seated and supine situations. Instead of talking about minute details of each passing position, he emphasises goals that both players are trying to achieve. Thinking in terms of goals helps in categorizing complex situations which occur in while passing and in quickly identifying what is the most important thing to do/focus on in order to retain guard. This way the student can go beyond the instructional by generalizing and applying these goals to new situations. Overall, this is a great instructional.

Essential for any rubber guard player
The Shoulder Pin Guard System by Neil Melanson
I know Neil is not a rubber guard player himself, but the principles he shows in this instructional will really help to take your rubber guard(or any other high/clinch based guard) to the next level. I always love revisiting this instructional when I feel like my closed guard game has stagnated. Neil's system is very applicable to mma as well as sport jiu jitsu. It's hard to get the best of both of those worlds. These moves are high percentage, control-based, and reliable. But it's not just about the individual techniques. He really goes deep into the principles, and not just the techniques, so you can apply what he is saying to your own game.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging:Revolutionized my front head lock position and finishes!
The Front Headlock System by John Danaher
My wife bought this for me. I love this position and have been trying to figure out how I can increase my finishing rate from chokes here. I didn't ever think I'd be hitting high elbow guillotines, but John explained it with such great detail that I'm now hitting them with little difficulty!

New Wave Jiu Jitsu: A New Philosophy Of Positional Escapes by John Danaher
This by far is the one that i would 100% recommend. i have all the new wave series that’s been released thus far and this is my go to. as a new white belt i find myself in many of the situations mr danaher discusses and i now am able to get out of them ! i highly recommend this one.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:Game Changer
The Blackout Hybrid Pin and Cradle System by David Petrone
This instructional is freakin' awesome. SO MANY techniques!! There is some very creative stuff in here. At least 80% of this will be stuff you've never seen before. Some techniques are more high-percentage than others, but they're all bad ***, and even the off-the-wall ones will give you ideas. What I particularly like about this instructional is that Mr. Petrone took the time to explain control concepts and how to pass into cradles. You'll also find how to respond when your opponent is defending your cradle, however these various, "counters to the counters," are hidden within the techniques. And they're a lot of techniques, so you'll have to do some digging.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging:If you ain't never heard of Jake Shannon, you are missing out.
Catch Wrestling Takedowns by Jake Shannon
This is one of my favorite instructionals. I always love to hear Jakes knowledge on the history of American/European grappling and catch wrestling, but he is legit technician too! He covers some more dynamic takedowns(like throws), how to drill them safely, and how to execute them in a way that puts less stress on your body. His version of these moves decreases the chance of injuring your opponent(if that is your intention), and takes some momentum out of the movement, so your opponent can't scramble top position after the throw. This was a game changer for me, because I would never even try throws or drops in training, because I was afraid that I would hurt my training partners(accidentally spiking someone on their head) or myself(back issues). But Jake shows how to do these techniques relying more on control and leverage, rather than dynamic athleticism. Jake and his partner do a great job of taking the time to explain things conceptually, while giving you a multitude of techniques. Some of these are more high percentage than others(fireman's carry, lateral drop, hype/uchimata, low single), but all the weird ones are super cool too(and couple of them actually work WAY better than you'd expect). The intense grunting that catch wrestlers engage in is also always amusing. You can't go wrong with this one.

Control Freak: Side Control by Firas Zahabi
I have spent way too much money on jiu jitsu instructionals and let me tell you... This man is the best teacher of jiu jitsu out there. Hands down. This took me from an absolutely useless, worse than white belt level side control, to a solid, upper belt level side control in one watch. No drilling at all. I know that sounds too good to be true... but it happened. It just cleared some things up for me and gave me two or three tricks that work so well, it almost feels like cheating. Side control is now one of my favorite positions. When my opponent is my skill level or below, it feels like check mate, rather than a transitory control. You will not regret purchasing this one.

Systematically Attacking the Turtle Position by Gordon Ryan
Many people in BJJ (including myself) don’t think to attack from turtle. Most times we break our partner down to mount, back control, or side control. There’s a whole realm of possibilities from attacking turtle that Gordon covers.

Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:Serious bang for your buck!
The Half Guard Anthology by Lachlan Giles
As a beginner, id say two major pros are: 1) that after the details are explained, the technique is demonstrated with small clips of situational sparing to see how they work live. And 2) that the instructional weaves the half guard position to other closely connected positions (RDLR, sit up guard, X, single X, etc). This promotes a greater understanding of how the position connects to others and is extremely helpful! Great structure. Excellent content. Well worth it.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:LEGLOCKS TO STAY ON TOP
Ground Marshal Leglocks by Neil Melanson
I got into jiu jitsu because of rubber guard. I loved the idea of a clinching guard to control posture, for the purpose of not getting hit. Because I'm a 10th planet guy, I've also fallen in love with leglocks. In this instructional, Neil takes the same mentality of not getting hit that I loved about rubber guard, and applies it to leg locks. This is the opposite of the typical, "fall back to ashi and take a heel," approach you find in sport jiu jitsu. Neil doesn't want you to give up top position unless you have complete control first. Two or three of these techniques have become high percentage staples for me. You know a technique is good when it works on guys that are clearly better than you at jiu jitsu. Thank you again, Neil!

New Wave Jiu Jitsu: Open Guard vol 2: Sweeps and Reversals by John Danaher
This instructional is well thought out, well explained, and easy to understand. I am very new to the sport of jiu jitsu and this has been a great addition to my training. I would assume this would help all levels. Great Instructional !

Response from BJJ Fanatics:fire:This might be the BEST Melanson instructional...
Special "K" Guard by Neil Melanson
... and that's saying something. Not gonna lie. This one is weird. Very conceptual - less about the perfection of your step-by-step technique and more about feeling/getting used the position and body mechanics. I watched it all the way through and it didn't really make sense. I watched some parts again, drilled some things, and slowly integrated it into my game. I stopped for a while, out of frustration. Then brought it back some months later. It took a long time, but its finally starting to come together with some pretty amazing results. This is one of those things that really sucks in the beginning. When you're working it out, it doesn't half work - it just fails completely and you get crushed. Pay very close attention to the beginning section where he talks about general concepts. That's where your mistake will probably be. If you have the patience, you'll have a new mma-ready guard in your jiu jitsu game, that also creates impressive off-balances and submission opportunities in the no-gi jiu jitsu context.

Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:THE BEST dvd in a LONG time
The Blackout Hybrid Pin and Cradle System by David Petrone
David Petrone has a great approach to an often-overlooked position that works across categories of grappling. His cradle techniques are extremely well thought out and systematically take the viewer through step by step. Dave creates multiple threats for submissions all while completely destroying and controlling the bottom guard player. If you don’t get this dvd you’re going to miss out on true genius. THE BEST dvd I’ve seen in a LONG time.
