Danaher, the zen master.
Go Further Faster Bundle by John Danaher
Lol, I meant really helped as I transition TO learning gi FROM nogi. My last review didn’t make sense. (And yes, unlike most people I started in nogi, that is not a typo)
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Very good instructional
Brutal Catch Wrestling Leg Riding and Hammer Locks by Joel Bane
Joel Bane has done an excellent job here of introducing people to some great Catch concepts and techniques. His attention to detail is second to none, and he makes sure to relate those details to the consumer. Volume One demonstrates some simple shin rides that some people may not be familiar with, and it is a solid introduction. Volume Two and Volume 3 are definitely very useful, as he goes in depth into some leg ride submissions, some top ride work, and demonstrates some truly brutal hammerlocks and keylocks. I personally thought the video was very well done. The camera work is clear, the details provided are helpful, and the techniques flowed well. As far as training videos go, I think you can't go wrong with the quality of instruction. I will add that I train strictly for self-defense...not competition, so this video suits my personal style/beliefs regarding training.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:Very Happy with this purchase
The Estima Lock & New School Toe Hold by Braulio Estima
I am completely satisfied with this purchase! The moves are super beneficial for all Jits players, and the breakdown of techniques is done so every belt level can easily follow. This selection is great for the beginner or professional fighter. Overall, this video series offered a very methodical approach to the proper way to apply locks and holds!
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging:Rubber from Half
Rubber Guard: Concepts From Half Guard by Richie Martinez
A solid video that will teach you another method of attacking from the overhook. Richie has a different way of clinging the overhook. In a underhook heavy world, where deep half, lockdown, and half rely on it, it’s important to also think about overhook concepts. With this you can mix into a guard that is ready for anything, and something that mixes well in the no-gi world. Sean Williams, also has a similar system. So does Neil Melanson. I grab stuff from all three to make my own little overhook system. Of the three, I’d say RubberGuard/10th planet is the more eccentric of the bunch. The entire system meshes really well together (lockdown, rubberguard, spiders web). This tutorial is an interesting dive into pieces picked by a great grappler like Richie. My only critique, and it is a minor one, is something that anyone looking to get into the 10th planet system should know. Richie teaches the “STOMP” not the “STOP”. The STOMP and SUPER STOMP are important parts of the 10th planet system. Just a minor detail for people looking to dive deeper.
Response from BJJ FanaticsThanks for your review! :hugging:Great Info
Closed Guard: BJJ Fundamentals - Go Further Faster by John Danaher
I’m giving five stars because the information is so good, however, I struggle with JD’s videos. I know this is blasphemy, but he is too damn repetitive and is a huge over-explainer. I find myself frequently wishing he would get to the point or move on to the next one. But like I said, with patience, you’ll pick up some solid information.
easy to understand concept and very practical.

Pin Escapes & Turtle Escapes: BJJ Fundamentals - Go Further Faster by John Danaher
Great for any level and great breakdown of the techniques. Escapes are the foundation of jiu jitsu and this video is a must have in your collection. John Danaher breaks down the system of escapes so it is easy to understand and retain.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Very thorough coverage of submissions from side control top
The KTNA Side Control System by Ante Dzolic
This instructional has a central theme of killing the opponent’s near side arm (KNSA) just before commencing a submission or a transitioning to a better position from the side control top position. In volume 1 (25 minutes long) Ante spends the first half of the volume teaching the main points of control and maintenance of the side control top position, with most of the remaining time of this volume teaching a series of techniques to **** the near side arm. Ante states that the near side arm is the key to the opponent’s ability to stall, defend and launch counters from side control bottom and hence the reason why this arm needs to be neutralised just prior to commencing a submission or a transition. The following three volumes (totalling 1 hour and 43 minutes) are primarily used to teach side control submissions and transitions. Some of the submission techniques are taught from a failed submission attempt using a different technique. Also, within Volume 4 Ante teaches several counters to frustrate your opponent’s attempts to escape side control bottom and addresses what you should do if you are unable to **** the near side arm. In total the instructional has 44 chapters. The submissions taught include various versions of the armbar, americana, arm triangle, ezekiel choke, darce, wrist lock, armlock, triangle choke, kimura, north-south choke, paper cutter choke and reverse arm triangle. Ante is an experienced, knowledgeable and confident instructor. He has produced a range of BJJ instructionals. Ante teaches in a relaxed and engaging manner. His instruction and demonstration of the techniques in this instructional are clear and easy to understand. The techniques are repeated several times from different angles. In my opinion the techniques taught in this instructional are practical, efficient and importantly not complicated to learn and importantly recall. The only question I would have is that in teaching ways to neutralise the opponent’s near side arm, no techniques are taught that pin his arm to the mat using your legs, but perhaps Ante does not favour these techniques. Sound and picture quality is good. The angles of the technique displayed are appropriate. In summary, I think that if you want to improve your control of an opponent pinned in side control and also expand the range of practical submission techniques that you know from side control top, then this is a good instructional to purchase.
Response from BJJ FanaticsThanks so much for your detailed review! :hugging:Awesome!
Leglocks: Enter The System by John Danaher
John Danaher does an incredible job breaking down and explaining the mystery that is leg locks.

The Basics of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu by Andre Galvao

Self Mastery: Solo BJJ Training Drills by John Danaher
Great explanations and techniques. The course was well presented and I am happy to be able to receive such quality coaching during the lockdown. The structure of the course is also made clear in the beginning - for example, I preferred just getting to move for the first time and jumped over to the training part without listening much to the explanations - which I later redid in a later training session. Very valuable, I learned much I had not known before or that wasnt explained in my club (like how to properly bridge). Thanks!

Brutal Catch Wrestling Leg Riding and Hammer Locks by Joel Bane
I've amassed quite a collection of downloads from BJJ Fanatics, given the isolated location that I live in. Out of all the instructionals that I own, this is by far my favourite and resembles very much my style of grappling. I hope to see more CACC type instructionals from Joel Bane 👍

The Sport of Kings: High Performance Mindset For Grappling by Gordon Ryan
This was super interesting. I especially loved the segments on the ways he practices. Gordon Ryan is very wise for his age. I highly recommend.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:I’ve done solo drills but most of the time I’d was mindless shrimping and never really paid attention to how important it is to master these seemingly mundane movements. Thanks for this instructional, it is definitely one I would recommend to any belt level.

Pin Escapes & Turtle Escapes: BJJ Fundamentals - Go Further Faster by John Danaher
I’ve only been at it for a couple months. I don’t know very much at this point. This video has helped tremendously in learning and understanding escapes. I’ve been able to use what I have learned successfully on many people. John really goes into detail on different techniques and why you might be having trouble. It’s definitely put me months ahead of where I would be.
Response from BJJ FanaticsKeep up the great work! :hugging:Digestible content for any jiujiteiro

Response from BJJ FanaticsOsss!A great addition to your leg lock game.
Leg Lock Obsession by Quentin Rosenzweig
This is a great addition to your leg lock game. Quentin shows grips and retainers in great detail. He shows counters to counters and shows moves from multiple angles. The moves he shows are the same moves he uses to dominate in competition. I highly recommend it.

Omoplata Everyone by Bernardo Faria
Hip escape, hip escape, hip escape!!! These words will forever be engrained in me. Bernardo breaks down this move into a few easy steps that he goes through and repeats with every variation. By the end of volume 1 you will be very competent in a basic omoplata and by the end of the whole set you will know many different ways to set up and get into the basic omoplata. Unlike other people’s dvds I’ve watched he doesn’t over complicate anything. The videos aren’t too long and although slightly repetitive by design once you get your leg over their back the basics of the omoplata will be so engrained in you. I love the way he teaches this technique!! Worth every penny
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Really enjoyed adding these to
Get Off Me Fool by Jeff Glover

Closed Guard: BJJ Fundamentals - Go Further Faster by John Danaher
I've barely got past the 3rd video in this instructional because there is so much gold to absorb. I've never known anyone to break down anything martial arts related with such detail and clarity as Danaher does. This will be invaluable for my Closed Guard game as I put in the work to implement it.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:A hidden gem amongst all the instructionals.
Pressure Passing Mastery against Common Guards by Lucas Pinheiro
The pressure that a lightweight like Lucas uses to pass is unreal. It is also amazing that professor Lucas can TEACH this as well. I recommend everyone from light to heavy to purchase this series and add it to your game.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:This is a steal!
Ultimate Flowchart by Joel Bouhey
The fact that this instructional is only $47 is a Steal! The moves in here are not only very well put together but it’s concepts that usually would take people longer to learn. Great examples and Explanations! Thanks for this!
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Highly recommended.
Open Guard: BJJ Fundamentals - Go Further Faster by John Danaher
Great instructional. Danaher really has a great way with helping you understand the position, as well as what you should be looking for. The first few parts aren’t technique heavy but just from that I look at open guard differently. This is the 3rd in the series I have (all dealing with guard) and now I’m looking to complete the set. John is a great teacher.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2::boom:ITS A MUST:boom:
Advanced Guard Systems by Neil Melanson
The techniques in this instructional is beyond expected the details are very well explained, Neil Melanson is a top of the chain instructer I love how he teaches different (sneaky) techniques that I can add to my arsenal which I have already hit on training partners 😀 this instruniomal is a must for anyone who wants to be a good closed guard player:martial_arts_uniform:

Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:A comprehensive Instructional on turtle attacks and escapes and includes coverage on back control attacks and escapes
No Gi Jiu Jitsu Back Attacks and Escaping System by Troy Manning
This is a comprehensive No-Gi instructional primarily teaching attacking an opponent in the turtle position and escaping from the turtle position. Additionally, the instructional provides coverage on back control attacks and escapes (14 techniques). In total there are 52 techniques taught and this is provided in one volume, with a total runtime of 50 minutes. Please be aware that the video is not indexed, so you can’t directly go for example to technique 33 - Armbar. I imagine this is because there are so many techniques for a single volume. The sound and picture quality are good but be aware that the instructional is filmed in monochrome. This does not significantly detract from the presentation, but in 2021 it is unusual for an instructional not to be in colour. Have a look at the preview to see if it is an issue for you. It is great that the camera operator moved around the demonstration to get good angles and zoom in to film the detail. Unfortunately, too many instructionals are filmed with a fixed camera and at times it can be difficult to clearly see the detail. In my opinion there are definitely good techniques in this instructional. Troy’s instructions are clear, direct and with an appropriate level of detail. The approach he takes with the instructionals that I have purchased so far, is to be clear and concise, with a focus on the technique. There is no attempt to discuss the theory or background to the technique. In my opinion this is not a problem if you purchase this instructional knowing that the time is spent teaching the technique not the theory. If you require more theory, then there are other much longer and more expensive instructionals for this. I recommend this instructional, particularly if the turtle position interests you, as I don’t think you will be disappointed.
Response from BJJ FanaticsThanks so much for your detailed review! :hugging:A little bit different to

Off With Their Head: The Arm Triangle by Neil Melanson
This was great. I am a former collegiate wrestler and I like how he blends the styles. I would pay an irresponsible amount of money for your combat jiujitsu DvD. All of his other DvDs are great as well. His DVDs have helped me integrate my wrestling and jiu jitsu which was a massive game changer.

Train With Your Kids by Joel Bouhey
I was really impressed with how bjj techniques are introduced and/or taught to the younger audience. The video quality and content are great for making learning bjj fun.
