Funk for bjj and mma
The Leg Riding Counter Manual by Ben Askren
Theres a lot of fantastic wrestling content on this site but for somebody that didn't have a wrestling background before getting into bjj and mma i find the askren brothers style translates extremely well to sub grappling and fighting. This and Bens other defensive series (quadpod, funk encyclopedia etc) have fundamentally changed my approach to the bottom position.

If you are looking to boost your nogi guard passing but don't have time to sit down and watch the 8 hr long ones than this is the instructional for you. 5/5
Systematically Attacking From Open Guard Seated Position by Gordon Ryan
Best instructional I own! Open guard is a highly divers and at times overwhelming position. Gordon helps clarify the complexities without sacrificing the depth. Highly recommend if you have any interest in exploring the open guard. Even if you’re not wanting to make it you’re A game the way concepts like distance management and grip fighting are covered help you better understand how to survive in the open while transitioning to other guards. This is especially true in the Gi. I love collar sleeve guard, but it can be difficult to establish the correct grips. With this instructional I am now so much more comfortable in open space and don’t feel like I have to rush to establish positions with more control. As such everything flows easier.
intriguing insight
Omoplata Everyone by Bernardo Faria
sneaky and subtle
Solid
The São Paulo Passing System by Leonardo Nogueira
Solid passes here. Definitely some great details just about anybody can pick up to build/expand their passing game. My issue is just in the title. There’s about half a chapter dedicated to the São Paulo pass (23 minutes) and then it veers off to a bunch of other styles of passing. As someone who’s new to this pass, it’s not bad. But as a black belt who primarily plays this pass, this wasn’t it.
Excellent detail
