Timeless Kimura by Rafael Lovato
This series deals primarily with Rafael Lovato's preferred place to attack the kimura, from the north south position with the opponent's head under both your legs. I was impressed by the quality of the instruction overall, and I especially like the depth he went into on how to shut down the opponent's free arm with your legs while attacking the kimura on the other arm. Shutting down defenses is often glossed over or taken for granted in other instructionals and I like how Rafael did a deep dive on this.

I absolutely loved this video. So many other instructors advocate for pull centric kimura attacks because they generate more leverage and breaking force. They're not wrong, but their perspective is incomplete. Enter Harry Grech and his push centric kimuras. Why would he prefer a weaker type of kimura with inferior breaking mechanics? It's simple. It still gets the job done, but it enables you to maintain shoulder control. What's more important, superior breaking mechanics or superior control (that gets the job done anyways)? I'm not going to say that Grech is right and so many others are wrong. What I will say is that his perspective was unique and it challenged what I thought I already "knew" about kimuras. Using push centric kimuras, Harry Grech then proceeds to show that you can even attack this from inside somebody's closed guard. That almost sounds blasphemous (and every jiujitsu school I can think of would tell you not to attack kimuras from closed guard top). However, after watching Grech do this in the video, I know it's a legitimate attack and it's eye opening. If you like to pass Sao Paulo, then this type of attack will add to your arsenal. My only complaint is that there's only 1 short video in the series. I would love to get more content from this guy and see what else he knows about kimuras. Please, bjjfanatics, get this guy to make you some more videos on the kimura! I want him to go deeper.

The Kimura Trap System: Fundamentals, Breaking Mechanics, Escapes by David Avellan
David Avellan starts off with the most important part of his teaching in the first 5 to 10 minutes. He teaches his 9 part kimura attack. If you do everthing correctly, it takes very minimal effort to break the arm and you don't even have to step over the head to attack from side control (as so many other instructors teach). It's a fresh take on the kimura and I really enjoyed watching this series.
