Weight Training For Grappling by Michael Israetel
I have been lifting weights on my life and I always get very philosophical about certain exercises for jujitsu that you have to do with weight training to improve your game this is a great video Michael has good knowledge.! I am a strength and conditioning coach of personal trainer and a physical therapist and I approve this message :muscle:
Lots of information
The Half Guard Anthology by Lachlan Giles
I managed to snag it a bit ago for about 40 dollars thanks to some deals and I have since gone through it and watched the individual bits that were most important to me. I really didn’t know what to do guard wise so I picked it up and now my half guard is the best part of my white belt game. It has so much information that any question you come across will likely be answered within it.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Unique instructional !
Side Back Control by Yuki Nakai
This dvd covers some very interesting attacks against the turtle position including top crucifix and rolling crucifix attacks, an interesting double under, double lapel grip position that i had never seen before and might be more familiar to judoka, some unique specialty position, and yoko sankaku position attacks (side triangle). The hara-tsutzumi position attacks the turtle head on and transitions into an pin. The importance of pinning is stressed throughout the DvD and the pins that are shown are very powerful. The Nakai position is a twister hook flow position that he shows how to chase and maintain the position as the opponent attempts to escape it creating a loop that’s hard to escape and at the very least creates several opportunities for back exposure. There’s also a section on how to defend yourself, when in the bottom turtle position itself, that is very insightful. The finial disc covers Yoko Sankaku or side triangle position which should be familiar to judoka, being it is a common way to attack the turtle. There’s a also a brief section on using the lapel arm sling or neshitori technique that I use a lot in my own game after discovering it a few years back on an instructional on digitsu. All in all this is a great instructional that has a unique and inspiring take on attacking the turtle position, heavily influenced by Kosen Judo and Professor Nakai’s great insight

Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:The Lapel Guard System - Galaxy Guard
Mastering The Lapel Guard Volume 1: Introduction To The Galaxy Guard by Braulio Estima
The man is brilliant. Simply brilliant. This is a great series. So great that I bought all 4 volumes. I originally started out no-gi Jiujitsu which I still enjoy & love and I was dissuaded from the beginning from getting into Gi, took a break from Jiujitsu and came back doing Gi, Gi is a lot of fun especially when you start using it to your advantage. I've been searching for a comprehensive system that would teach me different ways of using the Gi that I have never thought of before. This is a great series. Very creative. I will absolutely be practicing what the professor taught throughout the series. God Bless him, such a great job on this series.

The Shoulder Pin Guard System by Neil Melanson
I’m not really much good off my back and my main goal has always been to sweep or wrestle up and gain top position. That’s changed now thanks to this.

No Gi Judo For Grapplers by Satoshi Ishii
Good instructional. I have been working on my standup game. Working on implementing a couple of these in there.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:A deep dive into an underrated and powerful technique (long review)
The hip bump sweep is one of those underrated techniques that if mastered can really upgrade your game, particularly if you are often in the closed guard (bottom) position. It is surprisingly effective, with you ending up in the mount or can be used as an entry into several types of submissions. In my experience you can effectively sweep people of all sizes, provided you have a good entry and execute the technique properly. The other benefit of this technique is that if you are unsuccessful in your sweep attempt, other than expending some energy, you don’t normally end up in a worse position, noting that there is a risk of a back take. Usefully Ryan Hall does teach how to take advantage of being driven back down to the ground in this instructional. This No-Gi instructional by Ryan Hall will certainly improve your understanding of the hip bump sweep including: the theory; different types of hip bump sweeps; highlighting the small but important details; how to execute the sweep successfully; how to wrestle up from the hip bump position; and countering the opponent’s defence using a guillotine or kimura. Ryan Hall also teaches several submissions (i.e., triangle, omaplata, and armbar) entered using the hip bump motion leading to the opponent posting with their arm to stop being swept, however I would have like more time allocated to teaching these techniques. In the last volume (12 minutes of material) Ryan Hall teaches some techniques from the octopus’ guard. The instructional has a total run time of 2 hours and 3 minutes. Ryan Hall’s demonstrations and explanations of the techniques are clear. Importantly he stays on topic during his presentation. A good feature is that during the demonstrations he highlights important factors, such as the position of the body, where pressure is applied and direction of force. There are no notable issues with sound or video quality (e.g., range, focus, or lighting). This instructional appears to have been filmed in a training facility. The preview chapter [Vol 2, Chapter 7 - Build 2 (Lat and Up)] is consistent (i.e., sound and vision) with the balance of the instructional. In summary, I am pleased to have purchased this instructional, however in terms of content I would have appreciated more time allocated to teaching the complementary submissions and teaching how to actively create opportunities to enter the hip bump sweep.
One of my favorite videos
Utilizing Underhooks & Overhooks From Closed Guard by Mason Fowler
I have 50+ videos from BJJ Fanatics and this is one of my favorites. The techniques are detailed without being overwhelming, clear, and easy to understand. This should be the standard for how other videos are laid out. I love the side scissor position and these techniques have been gold for me. If you like closed guard, I assure you this is one of the best ways -- if not the best -- to play it.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:If you wrestle in pyjamas, learn the Iron Pillow before someone else beats you over the head with it.
Fundamental Movement Series: Iron Pillow System by John Frankl
The general idea of that was running through my mind while watching this instructional was, so *that's* how that [expletive deleted]er has been shutting down so easily! Kinda sorta, in that I already knew what he was working on, and that he had learned the fundamentals of it from Coach Frankl himself at an SBG camp or two. I'm the bigger, heavier, and lankier guy, while he's the smaller, younger, more athletic guy. We are at the same belt level, and have trained together from white/blue through to purple. I used to smash him at will. It's not much of a boast, but the differential was there. Until it wasn't. Basically, all of my go to stuff has been nullified. I think that I'm still safe, and fairly solid on defence, but I'm finding that that has been put to the test a smidge more often than I'd like during a competitive roll or positional drill. I could crack his attempts at using the Iron Pillow in the beginning, but noticed that my typical Pass the Guard, Control with Soul-crushing Pressure, Strangle pathway has slowly turned into Pass the Guard Kinda But Not Really, Attempt to Apply Pressure that seems to go Nowhere, Unwanted Scramble With Smaller but Younger and more Athletic Training Partner. It's been absolutely frustrating, in the absolute bet way possible; I bought this instructional to help me catch up in this arms race. I already knew from seeing previous material, that Coach John Frankl teaches in a manner that just works for me. I've had the chance to train with Coach Whittier, and have bought instructionals from him as well (endorsement within an endorsement!), so my confidence was high when buying this, and quite justified. There things that can be implemented immediately into your game, but I think that this is going to get more and more value as it simmers and melds with your game. Easy Buy
As time goes by
The Cowcatcher by Neil Melanson
I watched, on physical dvd, the catch wrestling formula ages ago. Now a in-depth look at one of the game changing techniques of the old masterpiece. Great job, terrific instructional
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Put my top game to the next level!
No Gi Fundamentals: Top Game by JT Torres
JT Torres is such an amazing teacher. He exactly knows how to balance details with overall concepts of certian positions. He really opend my eyes in terms of distance and pressure management. so in fact because of this instructional I really started to understand when to do which movement/move and how to prepare it to stay safe even if I break some of the general principles of jiu jitsu for a partucular timespot. Furthermore it as amazing that I am really able to do all this techniques although I am a quite anflexible guy with some knee and hip issues in terms of mobility. Highly recommend!!!
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Great for young and adult kids :)
