Comprehensive and Effective Side Control and Mount Escapes
Never Get Smashed: Side Control and Mount Escapes by Gregor Gracie
I recently had the opportunity to delve into "Never Get Smashed: Side Control and Mount Escapes" by Gregor Gracie, and it has been a transformative experience for my BJJ journey. As a student at Professor Gregor Gracie's academy in Brooklyn, I've had the privilege of learning from him firsthand, and this course is a perfect reflection of his teaching style and expertise. The course is meticulously structured, covering a wide range of scenarios and techniques essential for escaping side control and mount positions. Gregor emphasizes the importance of remaining calm and focused, even in the most challenging situations, highlighting that defense is the most critical aspect of jiu-jitsu. He breaks down each technique into manageable parts, making it easy to understand and implement. For instance, he discusses the importance of hip movement and framing in escaping side control, and how to use the underhook to elevate the opponent over you. Additionally, he covers escaping the mount position, focusing on the hip escape technique and how to deal with different leg positions. The course also addresses various common scenarios that can arise during a match, such as dealing with an opponent who shifts their hip towards your head or hip, and how to counter these movements effectively. Gregor provides detailed explanations and demonstrations on how to break these locks and escape efficiently. Overall, "Never Get Smashed: Side Control and Mount Escapes" is a must-have for any BJJ practitioner looking to enhance their defensive skills. It's a comprehensive, well-structured, and expertly taught course that will undoubtedly elevate your game. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced practitioner, this course has something to offer. I highly recommend it to anyone serious about improving their BJJ skills.

Pretty Good
White Belt Defense by Joel Bouhey
This is one of the first videos that I ever purchased. I watched it again as a two stripe blue belt to refresh my memory and give a review. At first glance, it seems a bit short, but that's really because Joel goes through the techniques at a fast pace. However, he gives good details and repeats each technique twice (I believe). Three possible complaints: He skips a few possibilities so it isn't a kitchen sink tutorial, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. The second complaint someone might have would be audio hum. It isn't terrible but you might notice it. Finally, the price is a bit high for under thirty minutes of video. As I mentioned, part of this is because he is direct and to the point. But that is noticeably short compared to other instructionals. If you wait for a daily deal and use a discount code, the price becomes a non-issue. I'm going to give it five stars, but it is possible to argue there are better options out there. On the other hand it might be just right for a white belt.
Wrestling made easy
Daisy Fresh WHITE BELT Wrestling Curriculum by Alejandro Wajner and Heath Pedigo
By far the best instructional I’ve ever seen on wrestling! Can’t wait to try some of this stuff next week
Fantastic conceptual instructional
The Pillars Clinch and Takedowns by Stephen Whittier
This is possibly my all time favorite instructional. The concepts taught have transformed my standup game so much that I now love to stand up, and this has transformed my overall strategy. Highly recommend this for anyone who wants to learn stand up but doesn't want to launch double leg takedowns. If standup turns you off because you don't feel athletic enough do yourself a favor and watch this.

Daisy Fresh WHITE BELT Wrestling Curriculum by Alejandro Wajner and Heath Pedigo
In a world where most instructionals are painful to get through watching this was refreshing. Alejandro is direct, short, and sweet. These techniques are used by all the PSF guys with success and I’ve been able to see results in my training room pretty quick myself.
