Huge game changer for me.
Half Guard Passing and Dynamic Pins: BJJ Fundamentals - Go Further Faster by John Danaher
As blue belts a friend and I started drilling these and practiced them with gradually increasing levels of resistance. Now as purple belts our professors commonly refer to us as two of the better guard passers at our academy. These are very controlled and dominant ways to systematically pin someone down and pass into a dominant position. You can build a successful guard passing game from this series alone. You will develop ways to force the half guard and find opens to initiate the various passes from there. An amazing series. I can't praise it enough.

Science Of Opening The Closed Guard by Matheus Gonzaga
This series is a steal for the price. The section on how to avoid sweeps is worth the price alone. You also learn how to defend the most common submissions from inside someone's closed guard. I have bought many instructionals over the years and this one has definitely been one of the most useful. If you find yourself in closed guard often, whether in live rolling or situational sparring then this series will have an immediate impact on your success inside someone's closed guard. Worth more than the cost In my opinion.

Exit The System by Garry Tonon
I love watching Gary Tonon compete because he is relentless and fearless in his attacks. The reason he can do this is because his defense is so good that he doesn't have to worry if an attacks fails. He knows he has a good chance at recovery therefore he can fully invest himself in his attacks and this makes him a truly formidable and dangerous competitor. Likewise for a hobbyist, if you have confidence in your defense then Jiujitsu becomes much more fun as you can be more adventurous with your game, knowing that you can defend yourself in bad positions and defend submissions. This series is and incredible course on submission defense that will rapidly improve your game. I highly recommend it.
