The Nelson Family: Catch Wrestling Nelson Holds by Jake Shannon
My title is a little silly, but we all know that some grapplers are a little more sadistic than others. Just like Shannon's earlier DVD, Catch Wrestling Submissions, these techniques are going to be a little more violent than your average BJJ instructional. Many of the submissions in this tape are neck cranks, which might not be allowed in your school or your tournaments, but there are also many notes here on control and transitions - I'm sure you can find value from these techniques even if some of the submissions won't be allowed where you train. There are also great choke setups here which you shouldn't have an issue using. My favorite technique is the Frank Gotch Twister, which is a further nelson crank that mechanically resembles but is visually distinct from the more well-known Eddie Bravo-style twister. Highly recommended for any fans of more violent grappling styles!

Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:COMPREHENSIVE MASTERCLASS
The Brabo/Darce Evolution by Dave Porter
Dave Porter's approach to this system of arm triangles is as thorough as it is accessible! I appreciated the instruction as Dave not only went into why a mechanic is executed in a particular fashion but also some considerations to the opponents reactions to said mechanics. Even if the Darce is not an option you had considered (and especially if it is!) for your game, I would highly recommend this as the methodical way this system is covered can add to your game beyond the finish! I eagerly look forward to more instructional from Mr. Porter!

Leglocks Unlocked by Tum Energia
Never have I thought I would be learning leglocks at my nearly 50 years of age. Till I watched Tum's DVD. His way of explaining, both general concepts and details, of attacking another 50% of the human body whetted my appetite to hunt for those legs and feet. I feel like a convert now. Highly recommended.

The Blackout Hybrid Pin and Cradle System by David Petrone
I loved the hybridization of grappling styles. Coach David killed this series with some mind blowing techniques. This instructional opened up a new realm of grappling play. I can’t wait to get on the mats and start dominating the cradle game. Superior control pinning and submission work. I strongly recommend this instructional series for serious grapplers.

Great content and demonstrates important details that Bernardo finds most effective. Definitely has helped me be more confident in certain positions as I explore more escapes. I still have a lot of the video to see still, but it’s been great so far.
Brutal ****
The Blackout Hybrid Pin and Cradle System by David Petrone
I own the Filth master Neil’s Cradle of Filth it made me fall in love with cradle attacks. The stuff in here does not copy his at all, its just a brutal series of attacks for any type of cradle, whether its near side, far side, far side with arm trapped, reaction based stuff... everything. If you like cradles, this is a great addition to your collection
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Classy Brutality
Pressure Passing and Top Game by Rafael Lovato
An efficient and systematic approach to not only passing the guard while draining your opponent but the grips and passes are setups for submissions. This new series addresses several issues that I’ve experienced with the new guard players.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Mindset Training
Triple C Mindset by Henry Cejudo
I watched Gordon's, Bernardo's, and Henry's instructionals on mindset and performance. Each athlete has a different approach and explains what motivates them individually. I like the way in which Henry explains how he overcame his set backs to comeback and win.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Mindset Approach
Champions Mindset by Bernardo Faria
I've purchased a lot of different instructionals, and it is nice to see how different champions approach training. Bernardo has a lot of good fundamental information regarding how to approach training and dealing with the competition itself.

The Sport of Kings: High Performance Mindset For Grappling by Gordon Ryan
There are a lot of different training approaches both physically and mentally. It was nice to hear how Gordon approaches his training regarding both aspects. He explains several important concepts that can be used by all competitors.

Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Entertaining and Detailed Arm Triangle Instructional for All Experience Levels
Off With Their Head: The Arm Triangle by Neil Melanson
This is the second of Neil's instructionals that I've bought, and now that I've watched about 8 hours of material from him, it's tempting to go on a shopping spree and buy all of his other instructionals at one time! To me, this instructional seems like it's appropriate for a variety of skill levels and experience with the arm triangle. Whether you're someone who only knows what an arm triangle is and do not have much more than that, or you're someone who already successfully uses it in your game, I feel like you'll find value in this. It's great how Neil starts with his lesson for beginners on the choke and builds in a logical progression from there. I love the level of detail Neil provides during his explanations. He consistently tells you what he's doing and why he's doing it, whether it's the style of grip he's using, where he's putting pressure on his partner, how he's positioning his body, etc. Neil is an entertaining teacher, and throughout the instructional, I respect how he "hat tips" various students, fighters, and coaches he's worked with in the past. Be sure to watch each segment from beginning to end because he throws in miscellaneous grappling tips here and there, and you might miss them if you skip around or fast forward!

Guard Passing Beyond The Basics by Thomas Lisboa
Great instructional! Thomas covers every technique in great detail. Shows each technique from many angles. The techniques are simply yet very effective when rolling. Highly recommended the course.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:If you've ever used a cradle while doing any type of submission grappling or even just thought about using one, this is the instructional for you!
Cradle of Filth by Neil Melanson
At the time that I'm writing this, I've been training no-gi BJJ for only about 6 months. As a former high school wrestler, I was able to recognize when my sparring partners were vulnerable to cradles, but in the sport of BJJ, I had no idea what to do with a cradle once I got it. I'm so lucky that the year I decided to start training BJJ was the year Neil created this instructional! Because I'm still so inexperienced, I admit I may have bitten off more than I can chew by making this the very first instructional I ever bought, haha. But that just means as I learn more submissions and positions, I know I'll be able to continually refer back to this instructional to see how a cradle is applicable. It's definitely not one I'll outgrow as I gain more experience. The variety of submissions and dominant positions Neil shows that can be set up by cradles is nothing short of amazing! Thank you Coach Neil and BJJ Fanatics for creating an instructional on such a unique subject.

Bernardo is very easy to learn from in this video. He explains how certain moves can be dangerous and how to do them properly. I have not finished it yet but I know this set will be a reference for a long time.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:If you find yourself in the turtle bottom, then this instructional is likely to be a game changer
The Turtle System by Henry Akins
Objective of this instructional To provide the details for the turtle position including “how to get out from the bottom; how to take the top position; how to attack from the top; and how to transition to a dominant position.” Content Volume 1 (1 hour 6 minutes long) covers techniques from the bottom position when the opponent is in front of you including: taking them down by driving into them with the aim to connect your shoulders to their hips in situations where they have their knees on the ground; dealing with a sprawling opponent with heavy hips by quickly backing out; how to deal with the guillotine, chin strap, darce (x2 techniques) and anaconda (x2 techniques) chokes; and dealing with situations where the opponent locks their arms around your chest (x2 techniques). Volume 2 (1 hour 9 minutes long) continues to cover techniques from the bottom position including a technique dealing with a situation where the opponent is front of you in a heavy sprawl and is holding you around your chest; a technique when the opponent has transitioned to your side and using your elbow you are able to swim onto the opponent’s back; two techniques suitable for situations where the opponent has moved to your side and involves trapping their arm and rolling and a sitting back technique where it has not been possible to trap their arm; a re-guarding technique when the opponent has moved behind you; an approach to clear hooks and unbalance your opponent leading to you moving to a dominant position; a number of techniques in situations when you are next to your opponent (i.e. on hands and knees/feet) with an underhook and the opponent has an overhook; several techniques similar to the previous position, but instead you have an overhook and they an underhook; and a technique to roll a person who is in the turtle position to enable you to take their back and also how to defend this technique. Volume 3 (58 minutes long) covers techniques from the top position with an emphasis on submissions from the top. Techniques include: an inverted bow and arrow, which is a simple Gi submission and is done when you are directly in front of your opponent; a chinstrap choke, which is a No-Gi choke and is also done from a front on position; Henry teaches how to best transition from a front position (where the opponent has good access to your legs) to the safer side position and to isolate the opponent’s arm, including a simple and quick armlock; he then covers several submissions from the crucifix position; two versions of the clock choke; a technique to put the opponent into side control bottom by collapsing the opponent’s hips; how to get your hooks in when you are on the opponent’s side or towards their back; and finally there is some additional material on attacking an opponent’s arm with your legs. Volume 4 (29 minutes long) and is described as a bonus volume. This volume includes how to deal with an opponent’s wizzer through movement when you come up from the bottom (e.g. side control) with an underhook in a turtle position next to your opponent and in response the opponent applies a wizzer; again same position where the opponent has a wizzer and you move position to take them down using a low single leg technique; and a counter to the chinstrap and underhook control. Volume 4 also includes footage (of very average quality) of two historic fights involving the clock choke – Wald Ismail vs Royce Gracie and Royler Gracie vs Mario Sperry. Henry provides clear instructions for his techniques. A great example of this is on volume 3, technique 1 - an inverted bow and arrow where for demonstration purposes he sits up his opponent and facing his back to the camera clearly shows the placement of his hands. The instructional has a good pace and in my opinion, it is easy to stay engaged while watching. Sound and picture quality are good. The angles of the technique displayed are appropriate. The total length of the instructional is 3 hours and 42 minutes long including the bonus competition footage. In my opinion this is a great instructional and I would have purchased it just for the turtle bottom position section. The techniques are excellent. I tend to find myself underneath more, so perhaps this reflects my interests and needs. The top section is also good with a number of very effective and efficient submission techniques.

Need a little wrestling in your life
The Pressure Factory: Using Pressure Principles To Score Takedowns by Jacob Harman
Coach Harmon doesn’t skimp on the details when it comes to the finer points of wrestling. I enjoy that he ties his principles of pressure wrestling into the bjj/grappling realm. If you’re a bjj guy and struggle with basic wrestling in your game, or an advanced player looking to spice up your wrestling skills,then this is the dvd for you.

Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Questionable Title Choice
Finishing Finishers by JM Holland & Zach Maslany
This is more of an exposition on some concepts behind the 10th planet specific warm ups- complete with 10th Planet specific lingo. The instructors here, while doing a satisfactory job explaining so that any viewer with at least a fundamental understanding of ideas and goals of submission grappling can follow, I found the title may be misleading. Luckily, the table of contents listed is labelled consistent with what is shown, so users can know what to expect. The only issue is that the contents are labelled with 10th Planet specific lingo and without knowledge of that (and that the 10th Planet system’s advanced curriculum use specific warm-up flow rolls marked A1-A4 sequentially and alphabetically through H1-H4) you may not understand the table of contents and have to buy in the blind off of the title, which may mislead you. Fortunately, there are plenty of FREE resources made available by 10th Planet system practitioners from social media site, smartphone apps, YouTube, etc., that can supplement learning so that it can make more sense in a holistic way.
One of the best closed guard videos
The Lethal Closed Guard by Rudson Mateus
I really recommend buying Rudson Matheus video of closed guard. He explains in great detail all his techniques and to the smallest detail to improve the closed guard.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Highest Recommendation
I am obsessed with the cow catcher move. It is my favorite finisher and I get a high majority of my submissions from this move. MIke's new series on the Cobra Choike (another name for the Cow catcher) has everything you will ever need to learn about this fantastic move. If you want to overpower and dominate your opponents, this is a must series for you! This by far, one of the best series on BJJfantics. A true masterpiece on how to **** somebody up!

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Self-Defense For Women by Deborah Gracie
This dvd is great for all levels to remember the fundamentals about staying safe. It goes over many of the moves listed in the self defense Gracie Jiujitsu curriculum. The details in explanation are there and are applicable to someone smaller since these techniques are based on the premise of leverage as opposed to strength. She reinforces the sweet spot how to perform each techniques effortless and confidently, along with variations to consider in each situation. More importantly she explains how to approach someone trying to assault you in terms of body and verbal language. Professor Gracie is an excellent instructor along with her father, and hope to pick up more titles in the future.

This is a great DVD, whether it is your first spider guard instructional or you are buying it to add to those that you have already bought. Thamires shows variations for guard retention, sweeps and submissions not shown on other DVD's.
