I have been practicing Jiu Jitsu off and on since 2001. My first Martial Art was Hapkido. I practiced Judo with a friend who was from Japan and he was a Judo Black Belt but that was over 20 years ago. My Jiu Jitsu school has a Judo Program so I started a year ago. This video is very good for me. It shows all the throws I need to learn but what I really like is the detailed explanation of how to set up the throws. I already train to many different Arts so I was worried that Judo would be too much and my age, being 56 years old. At my age it is so important to really watch and listen to the experts. This is an excellent video program especially for Jiu Jitsu students wanting to improve their Stand-Up Game.

Body Lock The World by Shawn Williams
I have a bunch of body lock instructions, but only Shawn Williams takes the time to cover fundamentals like sagging, picking the knee up to counter sumi gaeshi, pummeling, and guillotine escapes. It's that attention to detail which characterizes all of his instructionals, and makes them true master classes. That being said, Williams has trouble just showing a move without explaining every relevant detail -many instructors hold off until the basics of the move have been shown-and that kind of informational overload can make it a bit hard to grasp the move as its being taught. But if the brilliant professor is a bit idiosyncratic then the student just needs to adapt, because this instructional is pure gold.

I’ve spent the last six years watching Placido, the legendary uke, get strangled and tortured by John in just about every instructional he releases. After watching most of John’s, Gordon’s, and Garry’s instructionals on this topic, I honestly didn’t think I could get much more out of another guillotine series. I was wrong. This was worth every penny. Clearly, all the time and work Placido has put in with John have paid off. This is a masterful instructional: short, concise, and practical, with the kind of details people pay thousands of dollars to learn in private lessons. It’s truly elite level. What really sets this product apart, though, is the camera work. Placido and the camera operator do an amazing job of capturing angles from underneath the chest, allowing you to see exactly what’s happening. 10/10.
